John Ballen of MFS likes media stocks, and that's the first idea I've heard in a long time that might actually make sense:
1. As a play on a recovery in advertising revenue;
2. The realization that we're NOT going to be watching live programs on the 'Net at home any time soon.

His pick is CCU (that one was up a ton in the '90s). The trick for us, as always, is to find smaller ones that may go along for the ride (if there is a ride).

But, yeah, media stocks typically do pretty well coming out of a recession. I'm still sitting on my hands for now, watching the price of gasoline go up.

Anyway, the reason for this post is I'm convinced that when the market begins to recover, the focus will be on companies that generate cash (that's where your MSFT comes in). Mr. Market won't be in a speculative mood for a long time, in my opinion.
