there wasn't one in the group that thought we could go lower.

I've had several analogous experiences lately. Both local and from friends calling from across the country. All anecdotal and I'm not sure how representative. Not saying it does, but if complacency abounds, we know the implications.

Jeffrey, that's about what the sentiment is for anyone at least 5-10-years away from retirement. People who are retired are are relying on their 401k's for retirement soon are not so patient as your friends.

That's really no problem as long they don't throw in the towel at the bottom. Some people in deferred accounts, dollar cost average into the markets and have a long time frame, so they won't be hurt, as long as they hold on through the fluctuations. But we're in a bear market and the market going down in a bear is normal. What's abnormal is everybody and their brother calling each new low a bottom and each new rally the start of a cyclical bull. I expect to see some extremes in here and reading Jeff's retrace and the other T/A here helps me to understand a little better. Still room for improvement though<g>.
