If Saddam gains power over his oily Arab brothers there he wont want to nuke us. He will want to deter us from attacking with the threat of being nuked. But he would not want to destroy our assets as they would gradually become his assets through our oil purchases at whatever price he decides he can maximize revenues.

So your saying Saddam is lookin for a way to control all the oil production in the Mideast and put nukes in Us cities.

The first part definitely... The second I don't think he would be willing to risk. He just wants to control the world's oil.. Control that and you don't need to nuke US cities. He'll get all the "respect" he wants from every nation around the world. Nations who will be afraid to risk shutting down oil production in the region merely to get rid of him.

Whichever Arab country which obtains nuclear weapons first will likely be the one that dominates the region.
