That's sloppy journalism presenting the issue as 'Canada vs US' - it is not that at all, it's actually produced by a few powerful lobbyists in control of a US federal department, and bent on screwing a whole lot of people, most of whom are US nationals, btw .... it's just that canucks affected are screwed far more intensely on a per-individual basis, while many more south of the line are hurt by this distortion of the lumber market, but with the damage spread among a far greater population

So nobody cares down there, you never see in the headlines this gross action against the neighbours and against domestic homebuilders, no columns exploring future consequences of such hypocrisy ruling the machinery of US government, no debate at all ... nobody cares

Same way the backroom boyz were able to carry on a private little war against Nicaragua - nobody watched, nobody questioned, because nobody cared .... and they never did care either, in the main body of the population - what became known as 'Iran-contra' only got press time because of the dealings with the demonised Iran, not for the boyz dealing drugs into US cities, and most especially not for their terrorism against nicaragüense villagers
