Something does not look right with these numbers, for instance it shows $58 B for 2000, but the maximum shipping rate (equipment) in 2000 was about $2.6 to $2.7 B (just looking at one of Gottfried charts), the estimate for 2002 at $28 B also seems high since so far this year, only two months had billings exceeding $1 B. Now, I understand capex includes "mortar and bricks" as well, but equipment surely account for at least 65% of the capex. Could we have admixtures of "world wide" data and US only data. I don't have the time right now to go the SEMI and look up the actual numbers.
