Exactly - as your chart shows, the 3 month average chip shipment for July was up 8 percent compared to July 2001. As Dr Wang pointed out in his SEMI address in Taiwan, the curve has been coming up at a very strong rate since last fall.

By looking at your chart, the rate of increase is greater now than the comparable period in the October 98 to March 2000 time frame. As a matter of fact, the upswing in 1997 has about the same up slope as the present up slope going back to last fall.

As I recall, SIA data is released sometime during the first week of the month. Doesn't this imply that we will see the August number for chip shipments sometime this week?
