if Wallace had become President, two of his friends who would have been in his cabinet were identified later, by our Intelligence operation "Verona," as Soviet Agents

The Venona Project (not "Verona", BTW, for those who care to follow up on this) revealed Soviet agents in Roosevelt's government, too. As well as proving that Alger Hiss and the Rosenbergs really were spies.

I've been musing this morning about the three Congressmen in Iraq. Their solution to the standoff on weapons inspection is . . . . wait for it . . . . send in Jimmy Carter. As P.J. O'Rourke once said, Jimmy Carter is proof that there are worse things we can send to a country than the US marines.
