The officers are not paying the fine. The shareholders are. Give be a break here:-( Let's have Mr. Pitt and Mr. Weill pay a few hundred million dollars out of their own pockets each for this behavior to place this behind them.

"Both Mr. Pitt and Mr. Weill of Citigroup want to end to various controversies, which have contributed to turmoil in the markets in recent months, as soon as possible. In conversations with regulators last week, lawyers for the big financial-services company said they also are willing to pay a large fine -- which could run into the hundreds of millions of dollars, to various federal and state agencies investigating the firm -- as part of any deal."
