WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sen. Bob Torricelli, his re-election hopes dimmed by an ethics controversy, is considering dropping out of the race, a Democratic party source said Monday.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said there was no clear timetable for the first-term lawmaker to make a decision about his plans.
