I think plenty of people will pay 1/3 extra for organic produce, but IMO Whole Foods chrges 1/2 extra and it's not for the Organic label, but rather for shopping in a Yuppified "high class" atmosphere, where admitedly, the selection is fairly amazing. I buy exclusively organic, but will shop elsewhere whenever I can -they're just too expensive..

The people who are willing to pay more for Organic, will keep paying for it even with the economy in the toilet, but the high-end trendy crowd that might pay $15.00 for a rubber spatula just because it is painted red and is strategically hanging in some groovy corner of Whole Foods, their conviction is much weaker and they will peeter out if times are really bad..

You can tell I love Whole Foods, eh?
Thanx for letting me get that off my chest..
