OT-For whatever it's worth, I think eventually we will all have 2 cars...one for local area (using golf cart type cars) and one for distance trips....and hopefully, that will be the norm sooner than later.

More OT...we have a friend with a hybrid and he loves it for commuting, but we have a Volvo for safety reasons. I have had two cars shot out from under me, so to speak...twice I have been rear-ended while waiting for traffic, and twice my car was totalled...and the second time that happened it was a Volvo! Fortunately the car took all the damage and we were all OK, but that's why I take car safety very seriously.
