'98 was also a mid-term election year.

world economic peril is not apparently waiting in the wings

There is the JPM/CityGroup problem.

The next meeting in November will probably indicate a cut.

I watched Gross (of PIMCO) on the tube this morning. When ask what would the Fed do in Nov., he said a half point cut then or before. I thought it was interesting that he brought up the "before".

Just trying to provide some counter arguments so I don't get too "smug".<g>

ajtj, what's your measurement for the expected move out of this DJIA intraday bear flag? It looks to me like it could be as much as 500 points based on the drop before this, what do you think?
