OT- Yes, Seattle. It is lovely. And here, mostly people accept (or not) folks for who THEY are....not money, not clothes, not material things, but what they say and do. Walk Their Talk, so to speak.

The wonderful old bookstore you mentioned, Storey's, is no longer in business as a storefront...(I am personally very saddened by this.) I understand that the owner was going to go online. But we do have Elliott Bay Books, which is wonderful. In fact, bookstores do well here. Something else to do on the rainy days.

We love the area....hubby was from New England area and schooled there....we went back for a few years, dealt with the snow again....and came back here.. Here, if it snows, it's not a huge deal, and if it is about 3+ inches, the city closes down, so it's a holiday. I know, that's pretty funny from an Eastern perspective!

Don't think we'll ever leave, except for trips, of course.
