US firms win $66 million in contracts at 1st US trade fair in Cuba since 1959

US companies signed $66 million worth of contract with the Cuban government at the first trade fair of US products in Cuba since 1959.

"These figures are preliminary and could increase by the end of the day," said Pedro Alvarez, president of the Cuban state company Alimport.

Alimport imports foreign agriculture and food products and has seen trade worth $206 million with US companies since December.

More than 280 companies from 33 states, including Tyson Foods, Archer-Daniels-Midland and Riceland Foods are represented at the fair.
