You're not even close. The shills will cost you money. The snipers might take your item...but it's only because you're too cheap to put a proxy bid in for what the product is really worth.

I've played the game for real for years. What you are suggesting is guesswork. I've been there, real life, real money, real time.

I never win when somebody wants an item more than I do. They are real players, too. They want the item enough to put up a real bid.

The only people that get beat by the sniper are cheapsters looking to really steal the item from the seller.

BTW.....most of the snipers I've lost to have loaded their proxy with dramatically higher bids than a "cheap" sniper would think probable.

Often I will bid with proxy 30% higher than the prevailing bid, and still get taken out.

History shows even the Ebay sniper pays better than one would think.
