The road to hell being paved with good intentions comes to mind...

One of my biggest problems with the idea of unqualified (and IMO, unjustified) forgiveness as a religious tenet is this complete lack of a requirement for meaningful atonement. Forgiveness without real (read: actual) atonement is pretty weak.
