But the taliban was trained by the CIA and supplied with arms by the US No Dan it was not. Tim, there is some disagreement over who exactly were the Taliban, and when and where they originated. Some believe they were students who formed a movement in 1994. Others believe they were agents from Pakistan's intelligence agency which received arms and training from the US. It is clear that the US provided weapons and some training to the Afghanis during the 80's....whether they were Taliban or not is unclear. During the fighting last year, many of the Taliban were found to be carrying US weapons and armaments. While that doesn't provide conclusive evidence, it does open up the possibility. afghan-info.com ted
