the Saudis did more damage to us than Saddam has done his entire life. Why then, are we attacking Iraq and not the Saudis? Are you now advocating war on Saudi Arabia? Joe, no, I am calling a spade a spade. The duplicity is killing me. The Saudis are somewhat better than Saddam but not by a lot. And yet we treat as one of our closest allies. ted

And I wasn't advocating war, just that we stop giving several hundred billion dollars, per year, to a couple of "kings" in that part of the world who happen to have been the equivalent of local street gang leader when we were looking for someone to pay for oil they knew nothing about. The didn't know it was there, and they hadn't a clue about what to do with it even if they knew it was there. Giving trillions of dollars to those cultural infants was like handing a loaded gun to a 5 year old - and we got shot right in the trade towers as a result. That civilization has lost the right to command a significant share of the genius and production of our society. Because they happened to be living above some resources - lucky them - they won a free ticket to join the advanced civilizations of the world. Well, they abused that privilege, forfeiting it, and now it should be taken away from them. Let them go back to enjoying their wonderful cultural heritage in the desert. They don't approve of western ways? Fine. We promise to stop sending them the western cars, electronics, food, and medicine they find so abhorrant. We'll leave them alone and they can leave us alone.
