Using female troops to search the Afghan women is a really nice touch, and such a delicious irony in many ways. First of all, you've got a Muslim nation where women are kept shuttered away. For the first time in their lives, those little Afghan girls will get to see women in a strong assertive role. This could have a far-reaching impact. Next thing you know, they'll want to vote, drive, choose their own husbands, post on the Internet, and become engineers. Lawyers, even. <ggg>

Second, I'm belatedly chuckling over some stuff Unclewest posted much earlier on this thread, about how women are weakening the U.S. military. But here they are, making us stronger and more adaptive!

All in all, a truly uplifting article.
