Banc of America Securities expects tough September quarter in data networking sector in note 9/30/02

Analyst Christopher Crespi says that except for UTStarcom, the September earnings of all data networking and wireline equipment firms he covers are suspect. During the telecom industry downturn, a healthy balance sheet is more vital than ever, he says. Crespi's "comfort list" includes Adtran, Advanced Fibre Communications, Ciena, Cisco Systems, Corvis, JDS Uniphase, Juniper Networks and UTStarcom. His "watch list" includes Corning, Lucent Technologies, Nortel Networks and Tellabs.
