It was our constitution that happened to reside in Britain since when we stopped being a colony in 1867. "At that time, the late PM P.E. Treaudu (sp Damn French names!) managed to get Queen Elizabeth to sign off on the power of the Monarchy over Canada" It was the British Parliament that signed off on our new Constitution, the monarchy has not had that power for many centuries. Can't bother to look up the spelling of one of our great PM"s!! Putz! "to a symbolic position. Hence the Governor General of Canada." So we did not have Governor Generals before 1982?? All those folks since 1867 would be peed to hear this "fact"! LMAO BTW: one of my great great ?? uncles was a father of Confederation and many times cousins was Alexander Mackenzie!
