Nice paraphrase, LindyBill, but originally it was "get those bastards", where "those bastards" more or less encompassed the entire Arab/Muslim world. Saddam as the personification of that particular stereotypical collective is problematic . Original formulation: #reply-17818952 .

If Perle and friends. really see going into Iraq as the first step in an "area-wide cleanout of these people", they ought to say so up front. Saddam is isolated and weak within the Arab world. Maybe taking him out would show "those bastards" how tough we are. Or maybe it would make a friendless despot into a martyr. Who knows? But the old military saying is supposed to be "hope is not a plan".
