Well, you think I (and presumably karen) overextend the term, and we think you underextend it.

I think, as one of the articles karen cited pointed out, the selection of the term selfish may have been useful for its shock value, but it was unhelpful in concealing the value of what she was saying because people would focus on the limited and negative aspects of selfishness.

Perhaps if we had a different term we could come closer to agreement.

Or perhaps not.

But you never countered my examples that people do not act in ways that are directly contrary to their own self-interest (unless they are clearly mentally ill, in which case who knows what they think their self interest is.)
