OK, well, I think that is wrong. I think that being educated in liberal democratic norms, all other things being equal, makes you a better person. I think that being educated beyond racial, religious, and sexual prejudice makes you a better person, all things being equal. I think we are by and large better than our ancestors, who tolerated slavery; treated women as legal wards of their nearest male relative; rewarded drones and blackguards, because they were titled, over persons of character and intelligence, because they were common; subjected pickpocket to hanging while absolving duelists from manslaughter; and so on..........
