It's a bit late for Saddam. He blew his chance when he invaded Kuwait, the same way Hitler blew his chance when he invaded the Soviet Union.

What I'm more worried about is Hizbullah and Hamas types taking over both Iraq and Saudi Arabia. And then being smart enough tactically to keep their mischief below the U.S. reaction level, while using the oil wealth to build WMD capacity and foment worldwide Islamic radicalism.

I think the proposed Iraq war is not really about Saddam, or about oil. It is to enforce the idea that no Islamic country will ever be allowed to become powerful enough to threaten us militarily. Kamikazes with nukes is a pretty scary thought, and we just can't allow it.
