Oh, wrong. Fleischer said exactly what he was supposed to say. He's very good.

War is expensive. Far cheaper, far preferable, for Saddam to resign and go into exile. His choice.

Even cheaper, and just as welcome from "our" perspective, "our" meaning the administration and its supporters, of which I am one, would be for Saddam's closest associates to simply revolt, and do him in.

No matter the cost, he's toast.

I don't know, John. It seems that Bush and Cheney, Ashcroft and Ari, Rummy have all spoken out of turn with seeming impunity. Diplomacy seems unnecessary.
