In fact they have come up with per month costs ranging from 6 billion to 9 billion. Those aren't "loose" numbers...a new one on me LOLOL.

As of 1996 the cost of "Operation: Southern Watch" had cost over $2 Billion, or about $500 million per year. I can hardly believe that expenditure has been less during the last 6 years (another $3 billion)

The operation in southern Iraq, called Southern Watch, has cost the United States more than $2 billion since it started, including an estimated $490 million this year, not including this week's expenses.
