How old are you?

50.

Shame

The real shame was the way the VietNam war was fought. Kennedy send it a few "observers" but who knows what he would have done? He was assassinated. I used to work with a former Colonel in the Vietnamese Air Force who said that Kennedy was assassinated by the VietNamese because he had Diem assassinated. If true, serves him right.

Johnson had no stomach for the war and was unwilling to see that it was done properly. He screwed it up.

Too bad Goldwater wasn't elected. There was a joke going around, "they told me that if I voted for Goldwater, there would be a war in VietNam. Sure enough, I voted for Goldwater, and there was a war in VietNam."

If you listen to the Johnson tapes, he REALLY did not want to prosecute the war, just do enough to save face.

Talk to someone who served in the South VietNam military and ask if we did everything we could. They say no.

Ask the boat people how they feel about us abandoning them.
