Obviously I have offended you by questioning how the American media operates and how your foreign policy has been somewhat responsible for the events of 9/11.

It is too bad that you justify the "asphyxiation" of Bill Maher by saying the American public was insulted and deeply hurt by his comments. His comments only shed light on the fact that Americans, like many people in the world, do not WANT to die. Therefore, technology has helped America reduce the casualties on their own end by limiting the risk to their soldiers. I think that is a good thing.

What I do not agree with, as apparent by your lack of depth in media coverage, is the glorification of laser guided missiles hitting targets in the middle of a cow pasture somewhere in Afghanistan.

As for an American's ability to locate Canada, I can verify this by a poll done by the CBC during the Atlanta games that only 4/10 Americans could locate Canada on a map. Isn't that disturbing?

The truth is, ignorance breeds fear and hatred. On both sides. Does a palestinian suicide bomber know that there are Americans that do empathize with the right for an independent state? Probably not. People like Osama Bin Laden, if he even exists, use media to bring out the fire that burns in their eyes everyday by portraying ALL Americans as evil. This is not accurate.

Osama Bin Laden, and to a lesser extent, Yassir Arafat, want control over people. The only way to do that is to create situations of severe desperation. Just like your crazy leader, George Bush, uses media and other means to bombard Americans with only one choice.

Kudos for many American politicians, namely Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, who have tempered the "irrational" exuberance of the trigger happy American public by laying out the consequences for an attack. I think that is great. I think you need more people like Carter in politics who understand human nature.

By the way, a year before George Bush "won" the election, he was told that Jean "Poutine" was re-elected as Prime Minister Canada. Bush said he "supported" Poutine and "his people." The Prime Minister of Canada's name is Jean Chretien and "Poutine" is a French Canadian food of french fries and cheese.

Remember what George Bush referred to the Pakistani people as? Pakis! That is a racial slur that was put on to me when I was growing up. Most Canadians, because we embrace other cultures rights to express themselves culturally rather than be assimilated into the "melting pot" that Americans embrace. Yes other Canadians did call me Paki. So we have a few ignorant people here, but at least we disbanded the KKK and did not allow them to set up shop here. That is real freedom friend. Freedom from fear.
