I don't think they really do. Most people avoid most things most of the time, in order not to end up looking like SI looks. People tip toe around issues in 3d- and if things look to be getting into any area where escalation of tempers may occur, most people back off. Of course most people self censor heavily in 3d, so they never get to those topics with people they do not know well. I love watching people in 3d converse. They are like little animals with whiskers, gently feeling the parameters of the boundaries of a discussion, looking for a safe way to proceed, and always with an eye out for an exit.
