It was only the last ten ("only"? to him it was eons) during which he was in pain, and receiving only aspirin. His feet, which weren't even there, hurt him, and he just rubbed his stumps and moaned and cried out all day, and couldn't sleep at night. I have such hostility for doctors, generically, and Grandpa is surely one of the reasons. So WHAT if he got addicted? Would taking a few pills for the rest of his life worse than being in pain? His daughters and wife begged the doctors. Now there are Pain Management Specialists, a good thing. Because if they can't stop the pain, they've failed.
