Ted, If you are trying to tell me that a second rate actor was responsible for the collapse of the USSR Yes, second rate actor, and first rate leader of the free world. So they were trying to get to Pakistan through Afghanistan so that they could get a port right on the Indian Ocean.....is that right? Neither their warm water port on the Black Sea nor the one on the Pacific would do.....is that correct? Russians wanted an effective warm water port, but I am not sure it was the primary motivation for meddling in Afghanistan. Afghanistan was just another potential domino that looked like it was going to fall their way. Joe
