<no non-democratic nation should be permitted to be a member of the security council.>

In some parts of the world, a monarchy (and if abused, one might call it dictatorship), is the way it is, and has been for centuries. and in some instances, it has been better than democracy.

My personal opinion - not for us to change. change has to come from within.

In any event, they too are part of the "world community" aka UN. why should they not be represented in one of the groups within UN ?

cheers, kumar
PS reminds me of "I'll disagree with you, but I will agree for you to have your right to speak" (or words to that effect).

<< Russian republic could do nothing but hope that they would still be able to hold that $8 billion "note" that Saddam owes them >>

That is such a joke on Russia. Deal with the devil, and what do you get? 8 Billion dollar debt from Iraq, and most Russians can't get toilet paper in their stores!

There are complaints about the bungling, of affairs, by our own government. Politicians, anywhere, are not the brightest bulbs, but ours perform better in our democracy than those in dictatorships, who are not held responsible to the public, or who's mistakes aren't heralded by an independent media.

Poor Russia. Anyone who trades and gives credit to Iraq or North Korea or Cuba, might was well bend over while waiting for payment.
