I have a really big dictionary (actually several) and the real meaning of martyr does not include terrorist bombers. The real meaning of niggardly derives from Norman French, and has nothing whatever to do with race. Niggardly was used successfully by Shakespeare, but don't tell Streisand. She will get it wrong.
