I disagree. I started out with Bush's position. However, Russia and China are idiots. They won't go along with Bush's position, come what may - or maybe they will exact too much in return. So, French alternative seems best. Conversation with Iraq is over. New inspection regime should be authorized to our satisfaction. Give 7 day deadline to accept it. No negotiations. Then whenever Iraq is found to be non-compliant, meet again, authorize attack and then there is no turning back. I think this is a good compromise - it is a compromise not with Iraq, but with France etc. There is a reason for compromising with them - they may come in handy after the war is over in terms of putting soldiers, aid into iraq.
