When I was a teenager, I used to read Ron Hubbard in the pulp fiction mag, "Blue Book." He wrote a series of action stories on early Crete, featuring the bare breasted maidens of that Isle in the illustrations. Hey, it was better than the photos in National Geographic!

He built a great life for himself with "Dianetics." Their National Headquarters in Hollywood was just a few blocks from the place I last lived in LA. They are very good at getting people involved with them.

It is pretty easy to get young, educated, disaffected Muslims into Fundamentalism. The message is in the Koran if you want to read it that way, and they can build the natural envy of the West into hatred without much of a problem.

Hi Hawk - just a minor correction >>since Zawahiri, being a psychiatrist<< ?!

Quoting from Nyorker >>...Ayman finished his degree as a doctor, specializing in surgery, and set up a clinic in a duplex apartment that he shared with his parents in Maadi....<<

Not that this would matter much, in view of what developed from that moment on...

Thanks for the freedommag ref.
