I never said that they don't regard it so. They may very well. They may also think the sun revolves around the earth; that 2 plus 3 equals 4; or that it is normal to be ill most of the time........

probably one of Mr. X's friends/coworkers who are always shuffling all over the world

but one of them was talking to a taxi driver in a South American country who had been to the US. And he said he would never move to the US, because where he was he had this huge extended family who would do anything to help him. ANd in the US people were basically alone. Plus he loved the vibrant culture- it might have been Rio, but I don't recall. I am sure there are people who value other things that we do. Very few of our citizens actually are educated enough to understand democracy, and the privileges attendant to living in this country. If those people are not getting their needs met here, another society might suit them better. And if we want to KEEP our democracy, we'd better educate people well enough to make them understand it enough to keep it.
