I've been in some pretty poor parts of Latin America, where people don't have running water, electricity, and their only facilities are outhouses and a dirty river to bath in. But I didn't see nearly the criminality, or socio-pathic behavior that we find in many inner city youths who have far more. Those kids in Latin America don't have the steady diet of violent button-pushing Hollywood garbage on TV and in films we do in the West, do they ? Anyone claiming that this doesn't play a major role here is dreaming. But it's a complex problem, clearly bringing into play artistic creation and censorship and I don't have a clue what to really do about it.
