To see that attacking other religions isn't limited to monotheism just look at Ayodhya or any number of other events in India.

Pure Buddhist cultures are fairly rare (well they are always combined with some local religion components). Nearer India with the Hindu religion as in Thailand... In Sri Lanka Buddhist monks seem to be pretty militant against the Tamils and I have heard of other instances in the other countries.

Then we just need to look at Japan to see the Shinto-Buddhist mix with a divine Emperor being used as an excuse to conquer the world...
