The most visible, but far from the only, criticism was leveled by ESPN commentator Max Kellerman, who symbolically spit on the WBA on national television.

Did you see Kellerman? I think it was last Friday, and I have never seen anything like it. He launched into a 5 minutes rant, slamming the WBA. Then they went over to Teddy Atlas, who spent the next 5 minutes slamming the WBA. One of them, I can't remember who, said that WBA stood for "We Be Askin'"

You don't see sports announcers really sticking their necks out there like that in any other sport.
