DavesM,

Let's be honest about Saddam. He's been one of the best beneficiaries of U.S./UK military weapons in the Middle East over the past two decades. As long as he played as a lapdog to Washington and London, he could do no wrong. Once he showed some independence by attacking the scoundrels in Kuwait who were stealing Iraq's Rumailia Field oil, Washington and London turned on their friend and have sold him to the world as some sort of a monster.

This is just propaganda from Washington and London designed to control the weak-minded in their own populaces. Feeling embarrassed are you? You should be. You're being played for a patsy by the Bushies. And apparently taking the bait. <gg>

Read this and learn something about how utterly cynical and two-faced your government is:

Short version:
seattlepi.nwsource.com

Long version:
fas.org

Your government is lying to you about Iraq. There is no other way to describe it.

Salaams, Ray

and should be given enough time to get a nuclear bomb, so that he can properly defend himself?
Your leaps of imagination defy all logic. If you seriously think that is what I was saying then I don't think we share enough common language to discuss the situation.
