Nonsense? Changing the subject? I think not. I'm no defender of Dell (they hardly need it), but you are suggesting they are cooking the books by capitalizing ad spending. I simply asked, given the current attitude in Washington, Wall Street and Main Street toward companies that cook their books, whether you think Dell management is stupid.

Your reply was ridiculous and condescending - "My guess is that you don't know a lot about accounting. Or at least that may be the opinion of others... Don't let the recent congressional pronouncements guide your accounting knowledge..."

Now you hold yourself out as some kind of accounting genius (on top of your self-proclaimed status as a "skilled business analyst") because you found a link that implies capping ad spending is possible. Ha! Your original claim (that they are capping ad spending) is nothing more than a wild-ass guess or a wish - you provide no basis for it other than your "feeling". Having worked in finance for more than 15 years, picking apart financial statements to analyze credit and valuation, and preparing them as a CFO, I can tell you "feelings" are not a generally accepted accounting principle.
