no, but I haven't been following the buildup as closely as I might. I've just been looking for broad trends, to confirm (or disconfirm) my general sense of an early '03 war--and if possible to get a sense of what kind of strategy the administration will employ. The most interesting part of today's WSJ story for me was the sense that the 50,000-70,000 troop option was a likely approach. I would have thought that the more massive quarter-million approach would win out, for the kinds of reasons Pollack suggests. Oh well, we'll see. BTW, there's a decent, straightforward survey in the new Atlantic of the kinds of postwar issues we'll have to grapple with. It's not rocket science, but anybody who hasn't thought much about the subject might find it a useful guide to issues we'll all be discussing in four months or so... theatlantic.com tb@imperialpolicersRus.com
