we would lose soon interest!

Very key point.

the big boys don't make money if everyone just gives up. Gotta keep hope alive.

Good points, Eva... sometimes the time to take profits is when you feel most confident about how they're doing!

I wonder how many people out there are still traders, though. Most of us here on SI are but how many others are there?

I think essentially Petrol is right about what to expect next; but- time frames are very difficult to predict too far in advance; bear market rallies will come out of nowhere (there is always someone thinking this HAS GOT to be the bottom..).

What makes it difficult for me to see time frames intelligently is my own bias; it works something like this: I have just realized after some careful and extensive research that the market should get to point X. I don't really think it will get there right away, but somehow it all of the sudden becomes difficult to take moves in the other direction very seriously..surely, I tell myself, everyone else must be seeing what I am so this could not be a big move if it's going the other way. This tendency seems to compress the perception of timeframes for me.

In light of such mussings, "Call The Nasdaq Bottom, 2002" should be interesting. I think the person calling for a December low (Petrol?) has a good chance to be right..

can't understand it myself, that there is still some money for longs,

most of the time, as far as the market goes, there is nothing to understand other than have the eye to catch the...

we are riding waves up and down,

and yes, it is a casino imo... the function that the market serves as a pool of capital is for the companies who access it... after that, it is hard to justify the "investment" made in the markets, frankly i see it as speculation, very few cases can it be justified as investment. particularly in the last few years.

Ah well, just my stupid thoughts

well, that's your opinion, and certainly i will not debate it, but i will say, I would like to be that kind of stupid myself.
