Acting as if I am an uptight ass is rather offensive to me.

That was CH, not I. I immediately defended you. As did X. (For once I beat Ms. Speedyfingers to the punch.)

I have been one of those least prone to recriminate with others, most prone to defend people and seek amicable solutions. I have been, by and large, tolerant, kind, and considerate.

I can't argue with that. The worst that I can "blame" you for is your refusal to poke your head outside the box.

I hope you realize most people do not think that about you. I certainly do not. I disagree with the way you look at things, but I enjoy the posts that I find with the alias "Neocon" on them. Perhaps you feel too many people disagree with you here, and you are feeling a bit defensive and out numbered? The personal things (imo) are inappropriate, when extrapolated from a discussion of ideas, to a critique of an unknown person. I think that just unhinges the discussion. And the discussion is very interesting. So maybe a majority of people here do not agree with you. So what? This is not, I think, a typical group of thinkers.

I'm sorry I used the term prig.

But I do think I would feel uncomfortable around a person who was so focussed on all the things I ought to be doing to avoid being blamed for any derelictions of social duty. It would, I suspect, for me at least, be kind of exhausting.
