Perhaps Dell, (yeah, I know merging isn't the Dell way, but at the right price I'd bet Mikey would make an exception, especially considering the fact that past storage attempts by Dell fizzled out), or a foreign firm. The Japanese come to mind. Perhaps they have smartened up from the days of buying US real estate at the top and then selling at the bottom (Rockefeller Center, Monterey Peninsula golf courses, etc)... I'd bet IBM would love to do it just to get EMC out of the way and stop storage from being a loss leader, but antitrust would be in the way... HPQ a very longshot because they are digesting too many other big mergers... We are getting to the point where prime tech assets are getting attractive... EMC and SUNW two prime candidates here - fat cash reserves and low share prices...

Best regards,
John
