What we have here is the work of intelligent men. Can any citizen of this country sleep at night knowing that the safety and security of the USA is in the hands of the UN Security Council? Should our hands be tied by a UN made up of those who do not share our views re: personal liberty and freedom? Why do otherwise patriotic citizens ignore evil and conduct themselves as if they were at a Jane Fonda/Ho Chi Minh love-in? Is it because their ability to think for themselves has been excised by their parents? their teachers and professors? their hippie experiences?

Edmund Burke, the great 18th-century Scottish philosopher and British parliamentarian, said, "Evil triumphs when good men do nothing." Martin Luther King said, "To ignore evil is to become an accomplice to it."

Are we to ignore the evil of Saddam Hussein because we are afraid of the unintended consequences. Are these greater than the unintended consequences of doing nothing? Are there ANY free thinking men here, who wish to address the issues? who can forget demogogery? Can we have an intelligent discussion, without the demogogery that normally occurs with political issue debates?....... ... jj

Bush "stupid?"

Me say that? Not I. "Manipulator?" Yes.

Specifically, I said that "It would be nice, though, if Bush's stupid tough talk at least helped the U.N. develop more credibility and strength to take on Saddam and get necessary international initiatives to be successful."

Scott posted a great article yesterday on how Bush's election ploy of using Iraq to divert public attention from the economy had basically become a "runaway train."

Message 18075798

The irony is that the U.S. could be inadvertently led into a war, unless, of course, the election comes soon. After the election, this "war talk" will stop. Bush will simply argue that it was necessary in order to get the U.N. to take itself seriously or to be taken seriously.

What a show!

The question remains--will Bush ever take the economy or these Wall Street economic rapists seriously?
