Cardinals are playing inspired ball, but I question whether they can take 4 of 7 from Atlanta (should both teams advance), especially with Rolen sidelined. Tino needs to start producing offensively lest he become the first-base equivalent of Dal Maxville.

Where you and I differ on Corporate America is in the extent of the Big Squeeze. Every medium and large corporation in America has scores of middle managers whose only role is to squeeze workers, pinch pennies, try to put pension dollars into the general treasury, muddle health care so the worker doesn't know he's getting less coverage but paying more for it, on and on and on.

I see where Xerox this past week was ordered to kick in $280 million to retirees who got shafted over the years.

I think the problem is far more pervasive than many believe ... and I've been preaching same for many months now.
