Lizzie,re:"panic selloff...don't think will happen".
Agree. It's only the 3rd years of this 'decades-long'
down trend, no need to panic. There is plenty of time
left to sell, off or on.
Chanting... USA..USA..USA..USA..........USA
I wish Japan stops counting the 'down years', it's getting
harder and harder to beat those records. At times, it's
hard to keep track of how long it has been. Just about
thinking they got the streak broken, they 'discovered' they
are still in recession. Seems like USA is behaving with
similar erratic pattern, (the on and off of recession
and recovery ). Ever with the experts, we don't really
have a concensus on:

was there a recession?

who started it? (the blame game)

if there was one, when did it end? ... Did it end?

when the recovery started?

who started the recovery? (the credit grabbing game)

was there a real recovery?

what is a recession?

what is a recovery?

I think Japan's problem started so 1984, so 20th
anniversay coming up soon.

if and when "it" happens (and i say WHEN, not if), you might well think it should be designated as a panic selloff...i however would designate "it" as a what took the market this long to return to fairer values and what took the market this long to drop to account for risk, p/e's that are way too high, future competition, etc.

ps. how many points till nasdaq 600 ?

Thats the problem. Too many people waiting for that selloff.
So instead we get this slow bleed down that keeps everybody in. This bear wants to go down with the maximum number of people on board. There is no fundamental reason to buy stocks. So if you are buying based on oversold levels, too
many bears or too many people are negative, you are hoping
for a bounce from oversold levels. That may happen or it may not happen. I believe this bear market won't end till stocks are cheap again and Microsoft at 45, EBAY at 51 tells
me have a long way to go before that happens.
