svenlar, Franks is a good general. The only problem is that, these days, generals are controlled by the politicians. Not just the CinC but by the meddling of Congress. It is true that Congress is supposed to authorize participating in a war, but once that is done they should butt out. Most of them have no knowledge of military matters, and an effective war cannot be fought under the direction of a bunch of former lawyers.
